About the Board goals and objectives
The Board of Education of the Goshen Central School District recently adopted its goals and objectives that will serve the district over the next three school years, through 2013-14.
Over the summer, district administrators joined the Board of Education at a goal-setting summer workshop to create goals and objectives that will serve the district over the next three school years, through 2013-14.
The district began this goal-setting process during the summer of 2009, when Superintendent Daniel Connor approached Terry Olivo, chief operating officer of Orange-Ulster BOCES, with the idea of establishing measurable Board goals and objectives for the district. Olivo referred Dr. Mary Ann Wilson, assistant superintendent for instruction, to assist Connor with this task.
A three-year plan was established and adopted by the Board of Education, and the district worked to set goals and objectives for the next three school years by examining the existing goals, looking at where they are in regards to meeting them and modifying and developing new strategies when necessary.
During the summer workshop, district administrators identified the goals’ measurable objectives, action plans and strategies, and person(s) responsible for implementing the goals.
The goals are measurable goals, meaning that they will be continually monitored, reviewed, and their progress reported to the community twice each year.
