November 15, 2010 - The Goshen Central School District has received word that it will receive $52,243 in Race to the Top (RTTT) funding. This money will be allocated over four years.
The district has joined several other districts to participate in the Orange-Ulster BOCES Network Team Consortium, which will help districts apply the funds to the appropriate areas, according to RTTT guidelines. Other participating districts include Chester, Florida, Monroe-Woodbury and Minisink Valley.
The purpose of RTTT is to help achieve Regents goals by investing in four critical reforms:
Adopting internationally-benchmarked standards and assessments that prepare students for success in college and the workplace
Building instructional data systems that measure student success and inform teachers and principals how they can improve their practice
Recruiting, developing, retaining and rewarding effective teachers and principals
Turning around the lowest-achieving schools
The state has been awarded almost $700 million in
RTTT funding. According to the New York State Education website, “the
funding that New York State receives from the competition will help
advance the Regents reform agenda through 27 projects over four grant
years.” For more information, visit
