Attendance is
taken during each class period for grades 7-12.
Legitimate
reasons for absence include sickness, health
treatments, death, religious observance and
appearance in court.
A telephone call
to the attendance office on the day of absence is
required. A note of explanation is required for a
student to be excused for an appointment.
Teachers are not
required to prepare special lessons or materials
for pupils who miss school for vacation trips.
The Board of
Education has adopted a comprehensive student attendance
policy spelling out attendance
requirements and record-keeping, consequences for
students who do not adhere to the requirements and
procedures to be followed to attempt to help those
who demonstrate attendance problems.
Copies of the
attendance policy are available in the main office
of each district school.
