Areyanna McCarthy wins yearbook cover art contest

Yearbook art winners December 9, 2011 - Second grade student Arevanna McCarthy's artwork was chosen by her classmates for the cover of the 2011-12 yearbook.

As in years past, a contest was held to determine whose artwork would grace the cover of this year's yearbook. Students in first and second grade worked on their cover designs during art class with Art Teacher Marc Pizzo.

The art was narrowed down to the "Top 13" and students voted on the pieces as they were displayed in the main hallway.

The final tally showed the following:

First place - Areyanna McCarthy from Anne Ossman's second grade class
Second place - Nick Limbert from Kathleen Andryshak's second grade class
Third place - Ava Kaloz from Anne Ossman's second grade class

Honorable Mentions:

Victoria Mercik from Jennifer Forgione's second grade class
Maria Kelly from Valerie Cassel's second grade class

These "top five" will be pictured throughout the yearbook, if not on the cover. Stay tuned for ordering information.
