January
31, 2012 – The Girls Leadership
Group at the C. J. Hooker Middle School recently conducted a coat drive
in order to help local people who were impacted by the floods in August
and September as well as the snow storm in October.
The girls collected dozens of coats that will be donated to the Alamo Farm Workers Community Center on Pulaski Highway. The Alamo provides dental and medical care on a sliding scale and a food pantry for the local community. Additionally, the Alamo collects donated winter coats to help struggling farm laborers and their families get through a long, cold winter.
