SAS students participate in canned food drive

February 3, 2012 - During the month of January, students at the Scotchtown Avenue Elementary School participated in a food drive. Mary Kay Jankowski, school social worker, coordinated the non-perishable food collection with classroom teachers.

On January 31, all students in Scotchtown Avenue marched through the hallways to bring their collected food to the all-purpose room where the food was packed into Xerox boxes. In total, the students filled 29 boxes!

Some of the food was donated to the Goshen Ecumenical food pantry, and the remaining food went to the district's Youth Ending Hunger Club food pantry.

"Many thanks to Mrs. Jankowski and all of the families at Scotchtown for their participation in this community effort," said Principal Amy Peluso.
