2012 – The C. J. Hooker Middle School will host this
year’s All County Jazz Festival on March 9-10. The annual festival is
organized by the OCMEA, or the Orange County Music Educators
Association.
The festival will boast the talents of student musicians throughout
Orange County, who auditioned to be part of each ensemble. There is a
junior high ensemble for students in grades 7-9 as well as a high school
ensemble for students in grades 9-12.
On Friday, March 9, the selected students will get together for the
first time to rehearse for the concert, which will be held at 3 p.m. on
Saturday March 10. The event is open to the public. Tickets are $8.
The following Goshen students will participate in the All-County Jazz
Festival:
High School Jazz Ensemble
Matthew Wolek , grade 11 – trumpet
Junior High Jazz Ensemble
Matt Kopec, grade 8 – drum set
Chris Letherbarrow, grade 8 – vibraphone
Kevin Rooney, grade 9 – baritone sax
Mike Roper, grade 7 – tenor sax
