Read the back-to-school letter from the principal

August 19, 2011 - It’s hard to believe the summer is past its midpoint and soon we will be opening our doors to welcome back our students for the 2011-12 school year. On behalf of Mr. Piscitella, assistant principal, as well as our entire faculty and staff, I hope that you have had a wonderful summer so far.

Over the summer break, many people have been busy preparing C .J. Hooker for opening day on September 6. The Guidance Department diligently prepared schedules; the custodial staff, under the direction of Millie Crigar, scrubbed and scoured almost every inch of the school; and our clerical staff organized our Main Office and fielded many phone calls.

This will be my first full year as principal of C. J. Hooker Middle School, and I am thrilled at the opportunity to get to know all of you and engage in the educational process together. The middle school years are critical times of development for students and families alike, and I look forward to working with all of you to make this year successful. I am a lifelong educator who brings a firm commitment to students and families as well as a love of learning and problem solving. I believe in building lasting relationships, so please introduce yourself in the days and weeks ahead.

Parents are encouraged to refer to our “Weekly Roundup”, which is posted on the CJH link of the district website www.goshenschoolsny.org every Thursday. The Roundup offers a weekly “Cliff-Notes” version of all the school activities for that week.

School News Notifier, or SNN, is an opt-in e-mail and text message alert system where parents and community members can sign up, via the Goshen Central School District website, to receive e-mail and/or text message alerts from the district.
