Stay informed with Goshen’s Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest pages

The new school year is just around the corner. Make sure to
receive important news from the district by signing up for SNN, becoming
a fan of Goshen’s Facebook page, following us on Twitter and – new this
year – following us on Pinterest.
Sign up for SNN, update existing account
More than 2,800 people have signed up for School News
Notifier, or SNN, an opt-in e-mail and text message alert system where
parents and community members can sign up to receive e-mail and/or text
message alerts from the district. Users can choose from several alerts
and can unsubscribe at any time.
If you already have an SNN account and want to update
the alerts you are currently subscribed to, simply sign into your
account using your username and password, select which alerts you would
like to receive, and then click ‘Update Profile.’ It’s important to make
sure your SNN alerts are updated for 2012-13, especially if your child
will enter a new school in the fall.
If you haven’t signed up, visit
www.goshenschoolsny.org and click the SNN
icon located under Quick Links on the right side of the home page.
Follow the directions to create your profile and choose which alerts you
would like to receive.
There are alerts for each school building, senior
class news, district news and school closings and delays. You can also
enter your cell phone number to receive text messages in time-sensitive
situations, such as weather-related school closings.
Become a fan of Goshen’s Facebook page
The Goshen Central School District launched its
Facebook page in August 2010 and has approximately 860 fans.
“The way people communicate is constantly evolving,” said Superintendent
Daniel Connor. “Social media is a popular and efficient way to reach our
audience and allows additional ways for our community to stay connected
to the district.”
To become a fan of Goshen’s Facebook page, you must
sign up for a free personal Facebook account at www.facebook.com. Once
you have an account and are logged in, you can become a fan of Goshen’s
Facebook page by visiting
and clicking on the ‘Like’ icon at the top of the page.
You can also find us on Facebook by clicking the Facebook icon under
Quick Links on the right-hand side of the district home page.
Become one of Goshen’s ‘followers’ on
Twitter is a free service that allows people and
organizations to post brief messages, known as tweets, of not more than
140 characters to their ‘followers.’
The district will ‘tweet’ important news and updates
and direct its followers as to where they can learn more. You can create
your account at www.twitter.com. Once you’re logged in, find Goshen’s
Twitter account at
www.twitter.com/goshencsd or by locating
the Twitter icon under Quick Links on the right side of the home page of
the district website. Be sure to click the ‘Follow’ button to receive
tweets from the district.
Follow Goshen on its new Pinterest account
Over the summer, the Goshen Central School District
created its official page on the social media site Pinterest, which
became the third largest social network in the United States in March
2012, behind Facebook and Twitter. Goshen’s Pinterest page can be found
Simply put, Pinterest is a virtual pinboard that
allows users to upload, save, organize and share images and videos, or
pins, that they find while browsing the web. Users can ‘pin’ items to
their own theme-based pinboards, which can be personalized by categories
created by the user. The pins link back to the image’s original website,
allowing users to manage their favorite content in a visual manner.
