Goshen Faculty members to participate in
Five
Boro Bike Tour(Back)
On May 4,
approximately 15 Goshen faculty and friends will
participate in the Five Boro Bike Tour, a 42-mile
bike ride through all five boros of New York City.
Streets, bridges
and highways are closed to traffic while more than
30,000 cyclists ride through Manhattan, and Central
Park, into the Bronx, along the FDR Drive, over the
Queensboro Bridge, through Queens and Brooklyn,
across the Verazzano Bridge and then take the Staten
Island Ferry back to Manhattan.
The following
faculty are attending the Five Boro Bike Tour: Roger
Kalin, Dan Van Cura, Rita Santo, Chuck Rivera, Mary
Sharoff, Bob McIntee, Jessica Weir, Heidi Lawrence,
Betsy Xanthis, Norma Murphy and Sharon Woelfel. Some
will bring spouses and friends!

In addition, several Goshen faculty members are part
of the Goshen Cycling Squad, or GCS. GCS was formed
three years ago and members ride together on
weekends during spring, summer and fall all over
Orange and Sullivan Counties.
"The rides are not competitive; we're not racing.
They're not for fitness. The rides are purely social
events," said Roger Kalin. "If a rider falls behind,
we stop, wait, chat, then ride a little more. No
pressure, no teasing."
All faculty and staff are invited to attend our
rides and bring along a friend, spouse, neighbor or
relative.
