Student Development Day
held at middle school (Back)
On June 6, the C.
J. Hooker Middle School held Student Development
Day. Throughout the day, students participated in
many activities designed to reinforce the concept of
nurturing the well-being of the “whole child.”
The day was divided into three main sessions:
- Mandatory
Topic Sessions: Students met by grade level for
presentations by Carlie's Crusade dealing with
Internet safety and abduction prevention. Follow
up presentations will occur in Physical
Education classes on June 16-17.
- Student
Interest Sessions: Students attended two
55-minute classes on topics of their choice,
including arts and crafts, dog training and
care, wellness walk, golf, yoga and more.
- Carnival:
Students attended a carnival outdoors on the
athletic fields sponsored by Student Government.
The carnival activities included a bounce house,
inflatable slide and obstacle course and bungee
run. Equipment was provided by Ring Homestead
Camp, Inc., of Middletown.
“Academics continue
to be our main priority at the C. J. Hooker Middle
School; however, nurturing the social and physical
well-being is also important,” said Principal Kent
Maslin.
