About Us

The C. J. Hooker Middle School library was renovated as part of a new addition to the school in 2001.  The library is dedicated to the beloved middle school principal, Kenneth P. Hubley.  There are over 15,000 books in the collection with over 700 circulating periodicals.  There are 14 computers in the library where students can research and work on homework assignments.

The sixth grade classes come to the library every week for library class during an ELA period.  The curriculum covers the following:

  • library organization

  • genres

  • using the library catalog

  • Dewey decimal system

  • locating information on the internet

  • evaluating web sources

  • using search engines

*Library lessons follow the standards set forth by the American Association for School Librarians and the 21st Century Information Literacy Standards for the Digital Learners of New York.

Due to literacy periods, special events, and book clubs, the C.J. Hooker library has seen an impressive increase in circulation every year.  Please check out the library events page for monthly special events, book club selections, and other activities planned.  The library is an exciting place to be!
