The US Homefront and Propaganda

(If you choose, you may do this entire assignment by hand)

 

Step 1 Open Microsoft Word

Click: File - Save As - type WWIPropagandaYOURLASTNAMEHERE - save to the J Network Drive in your folder.

Give your page a proper heading.

Right click on THIS LINK and open it in a New Tab to read these common Objectives of Propaganda and Tools of Propaganda

Summarize each section of the reading in YOUR OWN WORDS in the Word Document. 

Save your work. 

 

Step 2: Right Click and Open in New Tab to:

Right click an image, copy it, paste it into your Word Document. 

Grab the corner and make it bigger so you can see the image better. 

Answer the following questions in the word document:

1. Who or what is shown in the image?

2. Who is the target audience for this image?

3. What is the goal of the image?

4. Can you get the message without reading the text?

5. Do you think this was an effective strategy to get this point across?

6.  List ALL methods used in creating This message.

Choose a TOPIC HERE.  Ask Mr. Redeker to OK.  (Only 2 people can do the same topic PER CLASS.)

Open Microsoft Publisher

Select "Publications for Print" - "Flyers"

Choose a Template

Create your own WWI Propaganda poster that reflects an attitude within the country about an event or period during the war. 

Use text and images to tell your story.  If you need to use an image from the internet - please Right Click it and Save it to the J drive the the folder with your work.

Include: Title, Caption, 2 Pictures (only 1 can be clip art), background colors, persuasive techniques

 

Step 3: Write a summary of your poster (within the word document from Step 1 if possible)

Include: 

The event or time period you chose.

The "Propaganda Tools" you used: describe how and why you chose those.

Who is the audience?  What is the objective of the poster?  Where would this poster be?

Why did you choose the images you chose?

 

Step 4: Print your work:

1.  Summary of propaganda tools.

2.  Propaganda poster.

3.  Summary of your poster.
