English 9   Complete two projects: monologue and one other

                            1.  Choose a character from the monologue and prepare a speech.

                             2.  Choose one other of the following three projects!

                             3.  Submit the following for each project: note cards, source      

                                  cards, work cited page, and the actual projects.

 

Wanted Poster:

Using the following people, create a Wanted poster: Simon Girty, King Philip, Walter Butler, or Edward Teach, (Blackbeard).

 

            Parts of Poster: (Use a regular sheet of computer paper)

·         Research from ISEEK and create note cards/source cards on the person’s crime

·         Need 5 details about the person (5 note cards)

1.       Picture of Person with name written

2.       Crime identified from your research

3.       Identify time period when crime was committed

4.       Reward

Monologue:

Using the following people, create a monologue about the character’s wicked deeds or about his motivations for his deeds: Sir Thomas Dale, Thomas Morton, Daniel Webster, Benedict Arnold, John C. Calhoun, Andrew Jackson, or Judge Hawthorne.

            Requirements:

·         Research from ISEEK and create note cards/source cards on the person’s actions (what is he known for)

·         Need 5 details about the person (5 note cards)

1.       Identify the person

2.       Identify the time period

3.       Write ten lines speaking in that person’s voice about his deeds from your research

4.   Present the speech to class.  (Speech needs to be as memorized as possible.  You can have a copy of it with you as you present).

Illustrated Event:

Using the following historical events, create an illustration capturing the main aspects of the particular event: Salem Witchcraft Trials, Civil War, American Revolution, Fugitive Slave Act, War of 1812, or the American-Indian War.

            Parts of Illustration:

·         Research the selected event from the time period, and create note cards/source cards.

·         Need 5 details (5 note cards)

·         Need 3 pictures (You will need source cards for the pictures)

Trial:

Create a case against Mary Stone. 

Requirements:

·         Research the crimes in time period 1841, and create note cards/source cards.

·         Need 5 crimes (5 note cards)

1.       Create the crime. The crime must be realistic of the time period.

2.       Create manuscripts for the prosecution and defense.

3.       Identify who will serve on the jury and why.

4.       Identify the judge and why he or she was selected.

5.       Identify the outcome.  If there will be a punishment, indicate it as well.  The punishment must represent the time period: 1841.
