    Triangle/Line/Angle Pre-Test

    Proof/Plane/Logic pre-test

The above worksheets will be due on Monday.

2/3
2/6

Put above constructions in a triangle.

Construct bisectors of the angles of a D.

Describe the point of concurrency as the INCENTER and draw inscribed circle.

Construct perpendicular bisectors of sides of a D.

Describe the point of concurrency as the CIRCUMCENTER and draw circumscribed circle.

ORTHOCENTER:

1. Draw  triangle ABC with          A(7,11), B(4,0), C(-8,8).

2.  Find the slope of each side.  Then find the slope of the line that is perpendicular to each side.

3.  Draw a line through each side of the triangle that is perpendicular to that side and goes through the opposite vertex.

4.  Find the point of concurrency.

       --Due Wednesday.

2/7 CENTROID:  Draw 3 medians of a triangle on piece of graph paper--page 245 #35-38:

1. Draw  triangle ABC with A(16,8), B(2,4), and C(-6,12).

2.  Find the midpoint of side AB.

3.  Draw a line from the midpoint to the opposite vertex, C.  This is the median.

4.  Repeat this step for the other sides.

5.  Find the point of concurrency of the medians.  Label it Centroid

6.  Find the distance from the Centroid to side AB.  Then find the distance from the Centroid to the vertex C.  Write your answers in simplest radial form.

7.  Repeat the above steps for the other two medians.

8. Determine the relationship between the two segments of each median.

See Above Assignment.
2/8 Hand in HW from Orthocenter and Centroid.

Start page 244 #27-30.

Finish page 244 #27-30 for HW.
2/9 Collect HW.

Draw a triangle with angles 40, 30.  Measure each side.  Put angles in order from smallest to biggest.  Then put sides in order.

Introduce triangle inequalities--page 251 #10-12, 13-15.  REDRAW the pix.  Put appropriate numbers under the side/angle!

Page 252 #29-34, 37-42.
2/10 Go over HW in detail.

Show Exterior Angle Inequality--the exterior angle of a triangle is greater than either of the two remote interior angles.  Page 251 #4-7.

Page 252 #17-28.
