Planet Earth covers all of the material outlined in the New York State Core Curriculum for the Physical Setting/Earth Science.  It is organized into instructional units based on the key ideas and major understandings of the New York State curriculum.  These are further organized into specific objectives for lessons and laboratory activities to be completed throughout the year.

This course will also focus on Project Based Learning.  This shift emphasizes learning activities that are long term, interdisciplinary, student centered and integrated with real world issues and practices.  By focusing on problem solving and real world phenomenon students will be engaged in an activity oriented course that will lead to a better understanding on the Earth and its dynamic nature. Issues related to the interaction of science and society will be highlighted to encourage students to contemplate their role as citizens of a rapidly changing world. *
