Course
Description:
The
major focus of this course will be United States
military history, beginning with the Civil War and
ending with global conflicts of the 21st century.
Military engagements will be viewed from a variety of
perspectives so that students can learn to recognize
recurring themes, the effects of those wars, and the
danger of not learning from those past military
conflicts. The course will also focus on the
political, strategic, and personal experiences of the
common soldier and military families. Selected
historical readings, local guest speaker, and several
field trips to the United States Military Academy at
West Point and Stewart Air Force Base will round out the
course.
