BIOLOGY GUIDELINES
Laboratory Requirements
Laboratory
requirements are established by the New York Board
of Regents. The Board of Regents has stated that, in
order for a student to be admitted to the
Living Environment regents’ exam, he
or she must show satisfactory completion of all
labs, which include written reports. In addition,
students must successfully complete four state
mandated labs that will definitely be evaluated on
the exam. If a student does not complete these
labs, he or she will not be admitted to the Regents
exam and therefore will receive a zero on the final
exam.
Grading
Quarter grades will be calculated
as follows:
Tests……………………………..40%
Class
work/homework…………..20%
Labs……………………………..20%
Quizzes………………………….10%

chapter)
3. 2

4. 2

General Guidelines
l. a)
Class work/homework must be
completed and turned in on time.
Absentees have 1 extension. Extended
absences will be handled individually.
b)
Assignments will not be accepted after testing
of the targeted work.
Don’t get behind in your work – it’s
easier to stay on target.
c)
Homework is graded – do your best.
2.
Tests – Advance preparation is
necessary.
a)
Study notes daily; avoid cramming. 15
minutes of daily study is easier
and will help you to remember; cramming
makes you tired – not smarter.
b)
Missed tests must be made-up on the day of return
- possibly at 2:20 or during
learning lab or other available mutual
time. Exceptions will be made for an
extended absence.
3. Any
class work, homework, labs, tests, or quizzes not
made-up within the allotted
time
period will receive a grade of zero.
4. When
figuring grades, I will drop your two lowest
homework grades before averaging.
