String students at Goshen Intermediate School meet once a week for small group lessons. Lessons are offered on violin, viola, cello, and double bass. The small group size allows the instructor to give plenty of attention to each student.

Lessons focus on developing music reading skills, proper performance techniques, and instrument care and maintenance. The students also have the opportunity to listen to recordings of professional orchestras and master performers of string instruments during their lesson times.

Improvisation and composition will also be incorporated into lessons to help the students explore the potential of their instruments and to encourage creativity.
