Ideas for Home
 |
Ask your
child to tell you about their day. |
 |
Keep a
journal about exciting trips, events and
activities that you do together as a
family. Let your child write and
draw the pictures. |
 |
Read to
and with your child EVERYDAY! Eventually, they will be able to read to
you! |
 |
Take your
child to get their very own library
card. Make it a big deal! |
 |
Create a homework schedule.
For example, if your child knows
that everyday after their snack, it is
time for homework, it will be an
easier transition for them and you. |
 |
Give your
child responsibilities. Whether it
is putting away the groceries, making
their bed, or clearing the table, it
will give them a sense of
accomplishment, independence and pride. |
 |
Any car
ride is a great time to play games and
practice key skills. You can
practice counting, singing the alphabet,
or saying the letter sounds. You
can also play "I Spy" ("I spy something
that starts with the letter 'T'-tree"). |
 |
Practice
activities that promote fine motor
development, such as writing, coloring,
cutting, tying shoes, lacing, playing
with Play-Doh, etc. I have many
great ideas, so if you are curious,
please ask me. |
