Reading Strategies:
What to do when you get stuck on a word...
*Look at the pictures.
*Think about the story and what makes sense.
*Skip the word and read to the end of the sentence
or paragraph.
*Look for chunks or parts of a word you know.
*Go back and reread.
*Think about what sounds right.
Good Book Talk: What to Talk About After
Reading...
*Retell the story in your own words.
*Tell about the characters, problem( if any),
setting, and solution.
*Talk about events that happened in the beginning,
the middle and the end.
*Did the character change?
*What did this story teach you?
*What would you change about the story?
*If
you were a character in the story, who would you be
and why?
