*Have your child write about topics of interest.

*The children can keep a journal of things they do every day.

*If your child asks for help spelling a word, ask him/her to stretch it out.  Have him/her write the sounds he/she hears.  You can write the correct "adult" spelling on top of his/her word.

* Writing can be a difficult process. Have your child tell you verbally what they want to write.  Writing words that they have spoken is much easier.
