In honor of
Halloween, C. J. Hooker Middle School Librarian

Loughran has held “Terror Tuesday” in the library
during lunch periods. She played spooky music and
shared some haunted stories with students.
On the final Tuesday, October 28, Loughran presented
“Is it Real? Is it True? Or is it a Hoax?” where she
talked about some of the world’s most haunted
places. She showed pictures of haunted houses,

Middle
School students
collect supplies for classmates
At the end of every
school year, the students at the C. J. Hooker Middle
School clean out their lockers and get rid of
unwanted paper, notebooks and other supplies before
heading into summer vacation – much to the dismay of
several faculty and staff members.
“Last June, I watched as students threw out
notebooks, binders and even some brand new supplies
that were never used,” said Beth Miller, social
worker. “It was such a shame, especially since there
are so many students who need help buying school
supplies.”

November menus
provide nutritious meals
that
fuel learning
Children’s
nutrition is no small issue and the Food Services
Department provides nutritious and appealing meals
for both breakfast and lunch. In fact, school
lunches provide one-third of the recommended dietary
intake for calories, protein and vitamins A and C,
iron and calcium. On average, a meal contains less
than 30 percent of calories from fat and less than
10 percent from saturated fat.
Your child can
choose from a variety of items, including milk,
juice, cereal and French toast sticks for breakfast;
and pizza, tacos, baked ziti and assorted sandwiches
for lunch.
