Expectations

This classroom is established on RESPECT and RESPONSIBILITY! This classroom is based upon respect and will be an environment for all who enter to feel safe, without ridicule, and be willing to learn.

YOU ARE EXPECTED AND ENCOURAGED TO ASK QUESTIONS!! No question is silly, dumb or stupid (in regards to math class). All questions are good, for the simple fact of if you are confused or have questions, chances are someone else is thinking the same thing.

 Materials (Needed each day)

1.          1 inch- 3 Ring Binder             2.         Calculator ( Graphing 83 or 84) (Scientific) 3.         Pen/ Pencil                             4.         Textbook

Procedures

1. Enter the classroom before the bell rings. If you are not in the class when the bell rings you are considered late!

2. When the bell rings you are to be sitting at your desk with the materials needed for the day out  (Notebook, homework, pencil, etc…)

3. Homework is out and on the corner of your desk ready to be checked. ( You will have       homework every night)

4. Copy and complete the “Do Now”

 5. Ask questions!

6. At the end of the period you are to sit at your desk until the bell rings.

 Notebook

Each student must keep a 3 ring binder. This binder must be kept in date order and will be graded. The notebook will be graded upon the following criteria:

1. Sections (1. Homework/ Do Now             2. Notes          3. Test/ Quizzes)

2. Organization (date order, papers not falling out)

3. Completeness of notes

Grading

Homework – 5 to 10 points

Participation/ Do Now- 5 to 10 Points

Quizzes/ Tests/ Projects - 15 to 100 points

The grades will be determined by a simple fraction. At the end of the marking period all of your possible points and actual points earned will be calculated. The actual points will be the numerator and the total possible points will be the denominator. They will then be divided to find your grade.

Example: John has a total of 300 points and there were a possible 400 points.

                 Therefore, 300/400= .75, then .75*100= 75 % which will be John’s grade.

Test Make up

At the end of each marking period you may choose one quiz from that marking period to earn back half of the points you lost.

Homework Policy

Work is due when it is assigned. If the student forgets to do their homework they have an opportunity to make it up by coming in 10th period that day for full credit. If for some reason they can not come in that day they may speak with me and we will arrange plans. If the student does not come in they can not make up the work and the assignment grade remains a zero. DO NOT expect to make your homework up at the end of the marking period.  You will get homework every night and if homework is not done you will not do well in this class.

 -         Tests and quizzes are made up of notes, homework, and class work assignments.

Attendance Policy

If you are absent from class for any reason it is your (“The student’s “) responsibility to get the material that is missed. Included in your responsibilities are: Do Now, notes, class work, and homework. If you are absent for one day you have two nights to complete the work. The work must then be handed in the following day. There are no excuses the work is due, if it is not handed in on time it will not be accepted, therefore, you will earn a zero for that assignment.  I will not ask for the assignment-  you know you were absent and owe work.
