Course Description:

Welcome to Honors Chemistry!  We will be covering a significant amount of material to help prepare you for the Regents exam.  This course will present a modern view of chemistry.  The topics will provide an understanding of the principles of chemistry.  At the completion of this course the student will take the Chemistry Regents if all lab reports are completed and are of passing quality.  Keep in mind that I am here to assist you in fulfilling any and all requirements of this class.  Please do not be afraid to ask for help if you are having any trouble with the material. 

The topics covered this academic year include: matter and energy, atomic structure, bonding, the periodic table of elements, mathematics of chemistry, kinetics and equilibrium, acid-base theories, redox, electrochemistry, organic chemistry and nuclear chemistry.

Extra help is available after school or during a study hall or lunch period.  If a student wants extra help they are encouraged to contact the teacher.
